New start in the blogging world.

Trying to find the right theme, this is a start but it isn’t right yet.

Purpose? Somewhere to photoblog. New approach.

This is all Under Construction!

Wow, a long time has passed…

…since I was here. So much has happened, yet in many ways, so has so little changed. But this isn’t the place for discussing that.

I’ve come back here because with news of A’s brain tumour, and with Gypsy’s health on a current downward spiral, I need somewhere to process thoughts. There isn’t anywhere I can do so without feeling I’m imposing or selfishly seeking attention and sympathy, so I’ve returned here as a place to lay out my thoughts and emotions. Here I can speak freely, and I know that in the unlikely case of anyone reading, they will acknowledge that they choose to read my thoughts and therefore there will be no judgement. Basically, if you’re here reading and you read something you don’t like, then deal with it and navigate away from here.

Ok, enough as a re-introduction…

Be happy and keep smiling.

Crack The Shutters

Crack the Shutters, Snow Patrol

You cool your bedwarm hands down
On the broken radiator

When you lay them freezing on me
I mumble can you wake me later

But I don’t really want you to stop
And you know it so it doesn’t stop you

You run your hands from my neck
To my chest

Crack the shutters open wide
I want to bathe you in the light of day

And just watch you as the rays
Tangle around your face and body

I could sit here for hours
Finding new ways to be awed each minute

‘Cause the daylight seems to want you
Just as much as I want you

Its been minutes Its been days,
Its been all I will remember

Happy lost in your hair
And the cold side of the pillow

Your hills and valleys
Are mapped by my intrepid fingers

And in a naked slumber
I dream all this again

To Thine Own Self Be True

Polonius’ advice to his son Laertes in “Hamlet”…

“Yet here, Laertes! Aboard, aboard for shame!
The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail,
And you are stay’d for.
There … my blessing with thee!
And these few precepts in thy memory
Look thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,
Nor any unproportion’d thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch’d, unfledg’d comrade.  Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel but, being in,
Bear’t that th’ opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man’s censure, but reserve thy judgement.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express’d in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man;
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower, nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man
.
Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!”
